Move more! Motion is lotion for our body’s tissues. Movement improves circulation, reduces stress and tension in the body, balances brain neurotransmitters, brings more oxygen to our cells, stimulates lymphatic drainage, improves mood and happiness, and enhances mental clarity and memory. Plus, it’s just fun. 

How can you add more movement to your day?

Do some gentle stretches before you get out of bed in the morning.

Park far away from the entrance to your building or the grocery store.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Stand up and stretch during a phone call.

Have a walking meeting instead of a lunch meeting.

Live chat: walk to someone’s office to ask a question instead of sending an email.

Get up and move. For every 25 minutes you sit at your desk, get up and move for 5. 

Dance and play with your kids when they ask (and even when they don’t). 

Walk the dog more often. Or walk yourself more often if you don’t have a dog.
